-public mobility intervention-
“intervention of -your- public space”
One of the first intervention of november (xristo kaouki).
With puzzle-d, xristo kaouki created a twin action (shoes and pillows) to intervene in the personal space we occupy in public.
Puzzle-d blurs the lines of private and public space and creates and playful rule that provokes physical contact. The objects is inviting and pleasing and act as an expansion of our private boundaries.
Despite its apparent playfulnes both action cross the line of private space.
1. The object (telecommanded shoes) An object of mobility and public space. Related with walking, running, moving and kicking. It is our only contact with the physical space (ground) we occupy when moving or standing. The situation Remotely controlled shoes interfere in public spaces with the aim to alter mobility. They joyfully impose movement, diversions, laughter and dance. The process The main objective is to create an ironical “kick” - but nevertheless physical - to people- and at the same time provoke laughter. The shoes tend to constantly disturb immobile people or make moving people move in a different manner. React (an intuitive intervention) of an apparently invisible performance. The shoes action questions the role of the performer, unintentional interactivity and game. The object (pillow or the social airbag) Private, personal, soft. Extremely personal. Clean, sterile. Suggest private space. The situation Two organic masses of white clean and soft pillows explore public spaces and provoke physical touch with the inhabitants in public spaces. The process This action blurs the lines of private and public space and creates a soft and playful rule that provokes physical contact. The object is inviting and pleasing and acts as an expansion of our private boundaries.
